“Visão interna – Agonia”, by Ismael Nery, will be exhibited at the Almeida & Dale booth during Basel Miami 2024

In “Visão interna – Agonia” (c.1933), one of his final works, Ismael Nery reimagines the human body in his characteristic surrealist style. During his hospitalization at the Correias Sanatorium in Rio de Janeiro in 1930, the artist observed anatomical images and reflected on his own health, which deepened his focus on the human body.
Almeida & Dale will present a selection of Ismael Nery’s oil paintings and drawings at Art Basel Miami Beach 2024, joined by icons such as Tarsila do Amaral and Maria Martins. Alongside “Visão interna – Agonia, the gallery will showcase Nery's pieces exhibited at the 10th and 19th São Paulo Biennials.
