Last days of “Intimidade das formas” at Casa Zalszupin
10/17/2024
The exhibition “Intimacy of Forms” addresses the production of Japanese-Brazilian artists in São Paulo, relating it to Jorge Zalszupin's private collection and the history of the house he designed. As the exhibit's curator, Yudi Rafael, revealed, the architect's residence housed a painting by Manabu Mabe from 1962, the year it was built, until the 2010s.
Drawing on this fact, the curator selected works by Kimi Nii, Massao Okinaka, Mika Takahashi, Tikashi Fukushima and Tomie Ohtake, whose production has been increasingly recognized, as evidenced by the recent acquisition of a painting by Ohtake by the Museum of Modern Art - MoMA, in New York. Four paintings from the early period of the artist's production are on display at Casa Zalszupin.
The exhibition is on display until October 26 (Sunday) and requires prior booking.
