The Institute of Contemporary Art Miami (ICA Miami) opens the exhibition Crossroads: Rubem Valentim's 1960s, dedicated to the Brazilian artist Rubem Valentim on November 21.
Valentim studied and experimented with shapes and colors that referenced symbols and entities from the Afro-diasporic religions to which he was devoted. To demonstrate the artist's formal process, the exhibition at the ICA will show his graphite studies alongside his paintings and sculptures.
Rubem Valentim’s works are part of important institutions in the United States, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, in Houston; the Minneapolis Institute of Art, in Minneapolis; and the Pérez Art Museum, in Miami.
Crossroads: Rubem Valentim’s 1960s is supported by Almeida & Dale.
