Antonio Dias, Emmanuel Nassar, and Miriam Inez da Silva at SP-Arte Rotas Brasileiras 2024

Almeida & Dale invites you to SP—Arte Rotas Brasileiras 2024. In this edition, a selection is presented that explores the poetics of three iconic artists from the Brazilian art scene: Antonio Dias, Emmanuel Nassar, and Miriam Inez da Silva. 

The connections between these artists include the practice of woodcut adopted early in their careers, as seen in the works of Miriam and Dias; and the enigmatic and critical lines in the works of Dias and Nassar, which resonate with the irony and transgression found in the art of Miriam Inez da Silva. 

The selection also aims to highlight how their productions are informed by various manifestations of popular culture: cordel literature, ex-votos, and popular music in Miriam's work; comic strips in Dias’s production from the 1960s; or the characteristic visual culture of street markets and amusement parks present in Nassar’s works.
