In retrospect of the exhibitions held by Almeida & Dale this year, “Contra-Flecha: Gestos de amor, práticas de sedução” [Contra-Flecha: Gestures of Love, Seduction Practices] curated by Germano Dushá, Rafael RG, and Fabíola Rodrigues, stands out.
The 2024 exhibition sought to bring together artistic productions based on dynamics of attraction and intimacy, taking as its starting point works by artists Lygia Pape and Maria Martins, and reflections by philosopher Renato Noguera, who approaches love and affection from multiple cosmologies.
In its second edition, the Contra-Flecha Program provides a space for critical and curatorial experimentation engaged in fostering new perspectives on Brazilian art history, establishing dialogues between works from Almeida & Dale’s collection—mostly composed of modern art pieces from the 20th century—and contemporary artists with incipient commercial circulation or at the beginning of their careers.
